One being... her kidneys. As many of you know, she was born with bilateral hydronephrosis and we see a wonderful pediatric urologist here in Dallas. As a result of the hydronephrosis, Audrey could be affected by chronic urinary tract infections. But, I'm very happy to say that in 2 years, we haven't had one (knock on wood). She was put on Amoxicillin for the first 3 months of her life (of and on but almost continuously) to fight off any possible UTI's. When we first saw her Urologist she was one month old and had traces of fluid in her Left Kidney and her Right was dilated to 10mm. Keep in mind 15mm or above is considered severe. A two month (August 2008) follow-up concluded with traces in her left and Right decreased to 7mm and she was taken off of Amoxicillin. We saw him again in December 2008 and if memory serves me correctly her Left increased some to 3 1/2 mm and her Right increased to 10mm. We went back April 2009 and they stayed about the same. Fast forward to yesterday and... they both have increased. Her Left is now at 6 1/2mm and her Right is at 13mm. So, over the last two years we've seen some decreases and increases. And, he wants us back in 4 months. They don't see any signs of blockage or reflux so I don't know why there's been an increase. But, as long as they stay under 15mm, we can find some relief but will remain cautious. We'll keep you updated on the two kids...
The rest of the month we are appointment free and have her ENT follow up in August as well as her hearing aid check-up. Thank you for reading... now you can see that beautiful face.

Sounds worrying about the increase, really hope they stabilise soon. Thinking of you all.

Yes, I'm concerned too and hope the 13mm decreases on the next appointment. I'll have lots of kisses for her tomorrow (Saturday) and my prayers for her have never stopped.
ReplyDeleteDear Audrey's Kidneys.

Dear God, Please tell Audrey's kids to balance out and stay there. This Angel has to much to do to be bothered with them. We will just keep up the prayers. Love to all.
ReplyDeleteMadi and I love the picture of Audrey rocking out on the microphone.
ReplyDeleteAs for her kidneys, I hope and pray in the next 4 months they decrease.
